It is the summer of 2011 and I have begun a journey to become a better writer. I was accepted to the Puget Sound Writing Project's Summer Intensive Writing Institute at the University of Washington. I don't want to pay for parking on campus, so I thought, "why not ride my bike!?" Crazy idea...here is my adventure.

There's god and then there are bikers...
Today I rode my bike downtown to meet up with girlfriends for lunch. It felt good to get back on the bike, but I forgot to pump up my tires again, so I was working extra hard. As I got down by the train and the Coast Gaurd station, a construction lady directed me across the street. Well, she told me to press the cross walk button and then when it changed green and I was about to go she started directing a trucker across into the shipyard. It was pretty funny. She realized her mistake, stopped the trucker and let me through. On the way back I found the newly opened bike detour in that same construction area and came across the same construction woman. I was stopped at the same stop light and while waiting I mentioned how nice the detour path is. She responded with a laugh and, "There's god and then there are bikers". I laughed a kind of unsure laugh like it sounds like you're trying to be funny, but I'm not sure what you mean laugh and then she said, "well, at least on this project!" And she laughed again. Oh....right. In Seattle construction....bikers rule!

Please let me know what you thought as you read my post. Did you have a connection? Did you laugh? What were your "wows" and what were your "wonderings"?
